- Description : This splendid multi figured icon once decorated the parapet of St.Dionysios temple. At the beginning of the litany, children in happy poses march. Following are the drummers clad in Venetian costumes, flag sectional bearers and men-at-arms. The sacred banner of the church along with priests dressed in official garments follows. Led by a group of four men holding torches, the holy relic of the Saint protected in his reliquary and carried by monks follows. The Administrative and Judicial follows. In the lower right part of the icon a semi-nude male figure is presented asking for charity. It is said that the particular stylistic element, resembles the naked truth (nuda veritas) used widely in the Renaissance and Baroque art.
The artist reproduces the basic form of the so called Venetian litanies widely spread during the 18nth century.
