- Description : The icon depicts the transfiguration (metamorphosis) of Christ atop the mount Thibor. At the center of the icon Christ is depicted in an ellipsoidal aureole emanating rays of light. He is flanked by Moses and Elijah, who appear to be blessing Him. They are painted in separate, but adjacent, peaks. The figure on the right is Moses, the lawgiver and at the left is the prophet, St Elias. The three figures shown below Christ are the disciples Peter, James and John. They are shown to be in emotional confusion and disarray while witnessing the event. The iconographic and stylistic traces prevails the predominant influences of the Paleologan style.
