  • Description : Against schematically rendered buildings and a gold background, Christ is centrally located, in a standing position. Unfortunately, from the waist and above his figure is destroyed.
    Despite that fact, from the remaining figure, it is obvious that he is presented standing in between his disciples that flanks him in either side.
    Saint Thomas is depicted to the left side, leaning towards Christ with his hand ready to touch Christ wound in great wonder. The facial expressions of the rest of Christ’s disciples prove their emotional skepticism and admiration while attesting the fact.
    Although the image of Christ is destroyed, from the remaining outlining, it shows that he raised his cloak so as Thomas poke his wounds.
    The unknown artist, adopt the Cretan iconographic style, prevailing in the 16th century.
    The stylistic features of the icon, such as the deep dark coloring of the faces, the positioning of their figures in space and the balanced composition, dates the icon to the 18th century and an artist who follows the Paleologan artistic prototypes.
