- Description : The multifaceted composition of the Circumcision of Christ is located to the internal of church which is declared by superposed arches, giving depth and grandeur to the icon. In the front of the arched columns, the Holy Table on a blue pedestal and covered with rich ocher-color fabric, the Divine Infant is lying in crimson color cloth.
Two priests, wearing precious and jeweled mitres (pilots) and rich garments are depicted bending over the table. The left represented is holding a golden sword and the other,on the right side open Gospel.
In front and on the left side Joseph is depicted with Virgin Mary in full length, behind him, standing on the pavement with there hands outstretched towards the Christ Child, while in the right side a group of women is depicted which there movement is restrained by the outstretched hand of old man which he wears a vivid skullcap. The head of the women s is depicted wearing rich garments with rich enclosures and holding an empty cage,
Near the top of the icon the inscription: “ Η ΠΕΡΙΤΟΜΗ (THE CIRCUMSION) // ΤΟΥ ΧΡΙΣΤΟΥ (OF CHRIST), written in red majuscules denotes the theme.
The image frame carries three similar bands to the image of the Nativity (fig. 15). The depiction of figures, and the chromatic scale that is relevant to the icon of the Nativity (fig. 15) makes us to attribute this work to same hagiographer of the aforementioned icon of the same atelier
