  • Description : Christ is depicted in the traditional type of “Pantokrator.” He is presented half lengh wearing sumptuous attire. His shoulders are covered with a bluish cloak, rich in gold striations and folds. Around the end of the cloak a red band with golden motifs ornament the garb. His inner garb is a vivid reddish color himation. The richness of the folds and the gold color striations and characteristic hues, prevail stylistic traces that were adopted vary following the trends of the time.
    s In particular Christ s garments, whose special luxury confers greatness in the icon of Christ in the type of “Pantokrator” (Almighty), and conforms to the trends of many icons of the 19th century.
    Christ is flanked at the head by winged heads of angels who unfurls from the clouds, and blessing with his right hand, while with an open Gospel book is poised on his left knee.

    On either side of the head of Jesus and near the upper frame, two abbreviations are depicted: Jesus – Christ, with gold lettering on a red background and framed by vegetable Baroque jewel. The image frame is defined by two equal width strips, red outside and golden inside. The four corners receive extra leaf-shaped baroque gem that, like those that surround the inscriptions, copies metalwork. The images are probably in a laboratory of Mount Athos.
