Description : Christ is depicted half-length, frontally, and facing directly to the viewer and against a gold background. He wears a dark blue himation bearing rich white highlights and a red chiton with a gold clavus around his right arm. His right hand is extended to a blessing attitude in front of his chest, while holding a closed gospel decorated with jewels in his left. His head is decorated with an incised halo bearing the monograms Ο ΩΝ. (The One Who Is). The rendering of the hair and beard, the symmetry in the figure proportions and the modeling of the attire are indicative of the 16nth century art.
