  • Description : St Nicholas is centrally located, depicted from the waist up against a gold background. He gazes to the right. A closed gospel book decorated with precious gems is resting on his right hand, while his left is extended to a blessing gesture. He wears a light grey colored omophorion decorated with black crosses and a crimson red chasuble (himation). His face is rendered in a simple mostly linear manner with apparent symmetry that coheres to the excessiveness of the figure.
The central section of the panel is hollowed out so as to form a wide border on which Christ is depicted on the upper left corner. He is depicted half- length and face towards the saint from the west, offering him a gospel book. Virgin Mary is depicted on the same miniaturist manner facing the saint from the east and offering him the pallium.
The icon can be dated around the 16nth century.
