Description : The Archangel is depicted frontally following the modeling of soldier-saint. He is attired in military uniform, holding a sword against his right shoulder in with right arm, while his left hand holds the empty scabbard. His head has an imperceptible turn to the right and the nimbus is decorated with geometrical motifs. He is wearing an orange, linearly rendered breastplate and a darker color cloak tied in chest and elegantly draped off his shoulders. The subtle countenance of the Saint’s characteristics alongside with the gentle technique employed in the depiction of the saint’s wings denotes to a dating of the icon to the 15nth century.
