  • Description : The church is dated back to the end of the 16nth century and it is built on the foundations of an earlier Christian church of the 12th century.
    Parts of the architectural structure of the older building can still be seen n the walls.
    The church of Saint Nicholas “Leontariou,” (Lion), was named after the lion statue that was founded behind the church.
    The archaeologists revealed that a monastery existed on the area and Saint Nicholas church was its main church (Katholikon).
