The foundation of the church dates back to the beginning of the thirteenth century and it is on of the oldest buildings of the region. It is located in a medieval settlement and this is evident by the numerous Byzantine founds. The church has a cross-shaped plan. The masonry is an amalgamation of the cloisonne system in voluminous parts in which ancient building ruins are also engulfed.
