  • Description : The beginnings of the Holy Monastery of Agios Vasilios Ano Trikala lost in time, and everything that could testify to the time of its foundation (manuscripts, old books, etc.) has been lost.
The picture of Agios Vasilios belongs to the 14th century and therefore construction of the first small chapel should be around the same period.
The present church, small and simple, " is unicellular, low and has two blind arches right."
The Sanctuary has a niche. The roof is pitched and changed the old Byzantine tiles. The iconostasis is carved; it is of unique art and refers to the art of the iconostasis Aigiou following the projects of Skordilli (16th-17th).
The images are from the same iconographer. The small pillars are carved in guilloche motifs of exemplary beauty and craftsman shift.
The doors are different. The Beautiful Sanctuary doors are incorporated in terms of beauty with the whole sanctuary. The small door of the prothesis (inside the sanctuary place), has been decorated by tri-lobed arch top.
The loft was added in 1918, under the supervision of monk Dhometiou Kassori.
The Holy Monastery is located in the North side of Ziria (altitude 1,400m.)
