Description: The Saint George church is a single –aisled one, with a low cylindrical dome. It is built with rectilinear lines with and a vaulted entrance. The masonry is in the cloisonne system with voluminous extensions. Its foundations hark back to the 10nth century. The final form of the church was finalized during the Turkish occupation.
The name “Sklypios,” that characterize the church might come from the name “Asklypios,” a reference to the many legends that hints to the many forms of worship held to this small church.
